The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Kola Fagbohun has enlisted the support of the State lawmakers and other stakeholders for the state owned Gateway United Football Club, to further boost their chances of gaining promotion to the Nigerian premier league.
Fagbohun, according to the OGHA Press Officer, Olugbenga Arowora, made the appeal while playing host to members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Youth, Sports and Employment Generation, who were on oversight visit to the ministry at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The Permanent Secretary, who explained that government alone could not adequately fund the club, except with the support of stakeholders, noted that sale of souvenirs bearing the identity of the club would generate more money for the club, thereby making more money available for the signing of quality players that could win trophies for the club.
Responding, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Olusola Adams, in company of other members including, Honourables Lamidi Musefiu, Wahab Aruna, Adegoke Adeyanju and Yusuf Amosun, called on individuals and corporate bodies to support the team, to sustain its position as a top contender in football matters in the nation.
